Overview of this book

This Learning Path highlights major aspects of Python network programming such as writing simple networking clients, creating and deploying SDN and NFV systems, and extending your network with Mininet. You’ll also learn how to automate legacy and the latest network devices. As you progress through the chapters, you’ll use Python for DevOps and open source tools to test, secure, and analyze your network. Toward the end, you'll develop client-side applications, such as web API clients, email clients, SSH, and FTP, using socket programming. By the end of this Learning Path, you will have learned how to analyze a network's security vulnerabilities using advanced network packet capture and analysis techniques. This Learning Path includes content from the following Packt products: • Practical Network Automation by Abhishek Ratan • Mastering Python Networking by Eric Chou • Python Network Programming Cookbook, Second Edition by Pradeeban Kathiravelu, Dr. M. Configuring Juniper Contrail Server Manager

Juniper Networks (http://www.juniper.net/us/en/) offer a set of products aimed at network performance and security. It also provides Python-based open source projects (https://github.com/Juniper) to manage its platform. Contrail offers an SDN-enabled management solution and service delivery for wide area networks, thus supporting Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WANs).

Contrail Server Manager is a platform to manage the servers in a Contrail cluster. In this recipe, first we will set up Juniper Contrail Server Manager (https://github.com/Juniper/contrail-server-manager). You may learn more about configuring Contrail Server Manager and other Contrail bundles from http://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/contrail4.0/information-products/pathway-pages/getting-started-pwp.pdf.

Juniper is open sourcing many of its networking solutions under OpenContrail project. We will look into the open source scripts available to manage and configure Contrail...
