For a while in the life of Qt Quick, there were only basic components, such as Rectangle
and Text
. Developers had to create their own implementations of buttons, dials, and just about every common UI item. As it matured, it also grew elements such as Window
and even Sensor
elements. There were always rumblings about having a set of common UI elements available. Eventually, common UI elements were released.
Spotlight on Qt Quick Controls. No more having to create your own buttons and other components, yay! And developers rejoiced!
Then, they found a better way to do things and released Qt Quick Controls 2!

Qt Quick Controls comes in two versions, Qt Quick Controls and Qt Quick Controls 2. Qt Quick Controls (the original one) has been depreciated by Qt Quick Controls 2. Any new use of these components should use Qt Quick Controls 2.
