BPMN Attributes and Tools Support


Most Business Process Analysis Tools, such as Oracle Business Process Architect, provide an object model for every entity modeled within the tool. This means that apart from just providing a diagramming capability for the various models including BPMN, each entity created, say a process or a service, can have variables or properties. These variables can have values defined by the user, which could be used for various analysis needs. The use of these variables allows a lot of rich information to be stored for a BPMN object when creating the model.

BPMN provides details, as per its specification, of the various attributes that can be used when modeling, especially for facilitating mapping to BPEL. Apart from that, Oracle Business Architect provides more variables for objects for reporting purposes, which is an essential requirement to enable optimal process analysis and management.
