Business Process Transition: Bridging the Business—IT divide


There have been many discussions around traditional approaches to IT projects, with the fundamental issue being that business and IT are not aligned to each other during the course of a project. There have been several experiences where business requirements set out by the business stakeholders have been misinterpreted by IT, and the resultant solution had half of the core requirements missing. In a process-oriented project, this problem can be further escalated due to the project's dynamic nature. Also, the use of standard tools such as Word, Visio and so on, for documenting process flows and their associated static requirements, is not a preferred mechanism of communication for solutions that are changing on a daily basis.
