Content management as a discipline combines the practices of building a static website with building a web application. Because of this, we need to be aware of the requirements of content-focused and task-focused solutions. Given that there are no methodologies in place that cover both aspects of content management systems we need to adapt existing approaches.
Underlying this is the importance of understanding the specific needs of each part of the solution and taking the appropriate approach so that the end solution works together. This means having a clear understanding of the roles required and having the right people on the team to fill those roles.
