The following are some of the important files, which are normally edited by the CUPS administrator:

Configuration file

Significance

client.conf

This file configures the CUPS client. It contains the directives which provide information about the CUPS server for client machines. We will discuss this briefly in the next chapter, CUPS Client Setup.

classes.conf

This file contains information about each printer class. However, it contains only locally defined classes, not remote classes that are created automatically via browsing. Each directive is listed on a line by itself followed by its value.

It contains the information in plain text that can be modified using your favorite text editor. But it is recommended that you use the lpadmin command, web interface, or any other available GUIs to manage your printer class.

cupsd.conf

This file contains directives that control the manner in which the CUPS server (/usr/sbin/cupsd) operates. You can use lpadmin...
