Time for Action Restore a Course


  1. Clicking on Restore in the course Administration block takes you to the backup data directory in your course Files area.

  2. Upload your backup file. The procedure for uploading this file is exactly the same as uploading a resource.

  3. Once your file is uploaded, click on Restore (under Action):

4. You are prompted as to whether you want to continue the restore process—just press Yes.

5. The contents of the backup file are displayed. If you are happy then press the Continue button.

6. The next page allows you to specify what exactly you want restored from the backup file. Importantly, you are also asked if you want to:

  • Merge the contents of the backup into the course

  • Delete the contents of a course and replace it with the contents of the backup

  • Create a brand new course

7. You will need to make sure the correct option is chosen. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and press the Continue button.
