Time for Action Specify a Course Enrolment Key


  1. Click on Settings from your course Administration block and scroll down to your course availability options:

2. Type in an enrolment key. This could be anything you like—it doesn't have to be anything too complicated. Because this is a course on ballistics, I'm going to type in 'spacerocket'. Note that I won't be able to see what I've just written (all I can see are dots). To reveal the letters I need to tick Unmask.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click save.

4. You're done!

What Just Happened?

We've just specified an enrollment key for our course. How you hand that key out to your students is entirely up to you. When it is time to get my students enrolled on my courses, I usually write the key on the whiteboard. After a week or so I go back to the course settings and change the key (I usually just prefix the key with the letter 'X'… which I won't be doing any more, if any of my students are reading this).
