Working through the Migration Wizard

You do not have to use the Migration Wizard to perform the migration; however, the wizard guides you through a reliable and supported process that ensures that all the standard settings and content from SBS 2003 are migrated. I would never attempt a migration without going through this process.

Start back on the Home tab in the Windows SBS Console and you will see that the third option is the Migrate to Windows SBS 2008 link. Click on this to start the wizard.

Note

If you do not see the Migrate task on the list, then SBS 2008 was not installed in a migration configuration. You will need to restart the process ensuring the answer file is prepared and available to the server during installation as required.
