Extracting data from SBS 2003 server


To check and prepare the CompanyWeb, we will need to carry out three tasks:

  • Run WSS v3 Pre-scan tool.

  • Add extra users to CompanyWeb on SBS 2003.

  • Stop web site.

All the tasks described below are carried out on the SBS 2003 system, although the Pre-scan tool must be copied from the SBS 2008 server.

The database can either be the original WSDE database or could have been upgraded to SQL 2000 or SQL 2005. Provided the database has not been moved to another server or had its name changed, the steps will perform as expected. If you have changed the database name, please change the name of the database in the steps in this chapter.

Running WSS v3 Pre-scan tool

The Pre-scan tool will check the CompanyWeb database to ensure no issues exist in the site before it is imported into SBS 2008.
