Summary


We have covered quite a lot in this chapter. We learned how to build on existing WordPress MU functionalities to display information about our site and use plugins to offer even more information to our users.

Specifically, we covered how to install new themes and change which ones are available to our users. We learned how to edit themes, to fix common issues with themes designed for WordPress instead of WordPress MU, and to change the look of a theme to better suit your site. We discussed how to display recent posts and comments on your home page and how to add a featured posts section. We also talked about using WordPress functions to get information about your blog, which can then be used to supply your visitors with interesting statistics.

We also recapped some common hosting issues such as the PHP memory limit, which can cause your blog to crash if you are on shared hosting or have a VPS that still has the default PHP settings.
