WordPress MU enables you to build a complete, professional blog network. Each user gets their own blog, and can choose their favorite templates and plug-ins, and develop their own content. WordPress MU powers some of the largest blog networks in the world, including the mighty WordPress.com ñ home to thousands of bloggers. This book will take you through the setup of a WordPress MU-powered blogging network, using a real, working blog network as an example, so that you can follow the creation process step-by-step. Time for action – offering a selection of themes


We touched on the possibility of offering your users the choice of several themes in Chapter 3, but let's recap:

  1. To offer multiple themes, just upload the themes you want to allow your users to activate to the /wp-content/themes folder.

  2. In your admin panel, open the Site Themes section and make sure the themes you want your users to be able to use are set to Yes.

  3. The theme used by the main site should be set to No.

  4. The choices should be visible on the user's admin panel.

What just happened?

As we discussed in Chapter 3, it is possible to enable themes on a sitewide level so that our users can activate them if they wish.

On SlayerCafe, we ideally want our users to stick to the default theme (the copy we made of the theme used on the main site), but we have offered some choices for people who want to be different.
