Using special codes to define tabs


Using an <h3> element to define a break in a tab or accordion is fine for simple CMS forms, but it's not very flexible. What if you want to do both?

One solution is to create some text codes for tabs. These codes would be unique to tabs and should not be confused with anything else.

Note that these are custom text codes created by you. They need to be unique to your application, and should not confuse the browser into trying to render them as, say, CSS or HTML.

See the following image for a visual explanation of how the codes will be used:

I've included an example above. Notice how the {{TABPAGE}} code is used to indicate a break in the tabs. And on both tab pages, there are <h3> elements, so the result we're looking for will be two tab pages with accordions on both.

In our example, we are using the following codes:

  • {{TABSTART}}: This code indicates where to start tabbing.

  • {{TABPAGE}}: This code indicates where to "page-break" to the next tab.
