Installing a new Update Installer


Before installing any updates installers, you may have to stop all WebSphere processes related to the WAS environment that you are going to update as the installer will not work if you have WAS processes running while you are trying to apply the updates.

Note

Before applying updates, please consider that if you have not already chosen to install the sample applications, they might not work if installed at later stage after a fix pack has been applied. The best approach is to ensure that all samples and features are installed before fix packs are applied.

Downloading the Update Installer

It is good practice to use the latest update installer. However, saying that, it all depends on the cycle of IBM's update release schedules and versions.
