Before we get into replication specifically, let's make sure we have a solid understanding of the ObjectGrid terminology introduced so far. A firm grasp of the terms already introduced, along with their relationships, eases us into the replication topics.
The foundation of an ObjectGrid deployment is the ObjectGrid container process. This process runs either in a standalone mode, or as part of a WebSphere Application Server deployment. We're mostly concerned with the standalone mode. In the previous chapters, we started container processes using a command line:
./startOgServer.sh server0 \
-catalogServiceEndpoints domU-12-31-39-00-C5-C7:2809 \
-objectgridFile ~/PaymentProcessor/src/jpa-objectgrid.xml \
-deploymentPolicyFile ~/PaymentProcessor/src/ogdeployment.xml \
-listenerHost domU-12-31-39-00-C5-C7 \ -listenerPort 13001 \
-jvmArgs -cp \
/root/PaymentProcessor/bin/output/PaymentProcessor.jar:/root/downloads/
