High Availability is something that all web sites hope to achieve, especially those that are linked to big companies.MySQL, an open source relational database management system (RDBMS), can be made highly available to protect from corruption, hardware failure, software crashes, and user error. Configuring MySQL on shared storage with Conga


In this recipe, we will enhance the previous recipe to install open source cluster management software called Conga. Conga consists of two parts—a server called luci and a client called ricci. Once everything is configured, you will have a highly-available MySQL service which will automatically fail over from node to node.

This recipe will not configure fencing as briefly discussed earlier in this chapter; this will be covered in the next recipe. As a result of this limitation, this cluster will not handle all node crashes; for almost all real-world uses, you will use this as a stepping stone towards the next recipe, which adds fencing to the configuration created in this recipe.

How to do it…

In this recipe, we will configure Conga cluster management agent luci on a different server, and the client ricci on all the nodes (luci can be installed on any server, including one of the nodes).
