Translation API changes


To enhance the functionality for translating content into different languages, Drupal 7 has added several new hooks to allow your modules to interact with the translation system.

hook_language_fallback_candidates_alter

hook_language_fallback_candidates_alter(array 
     &$fallback_candidates)

This hook allows you to control the order with which languages will be used for translation purposes if a translation for content is not available in the user's chosen language.

hook_language_negotiation_info

hook_language_negotiation_info()

Modules can use this hook to define language providers, which can be used to perform URL rewriting, translation, and more. For more information about defining language providers, see: http://api.drupal.org/api/function/hook_language_negotiation_info/7.

hook_language_negotiation_info_alter

hook_language_negotiation_info_alter(array       
     &$language_providers)
