Summary

In this chapter, we began to find our way around Moodle 2. We saw that:

  • Navigation around and within courses has been improved by the addition of a Navigation block which can be docked to one side until we need it and a Settings block which includes some features of the former Administration block but with more functionality

  • Topic sections can be named and either these names or the relevant weeks appear in the Navigation block

  • The navigation bar (breadcrumb trail) is more clearly laid out and can either default back to the front page or myMoodle according to your wish

  • Blocks can be managed in a much more precise way, both by the admin when making "sticky" or category wide blocks and by teachers when they are managing them within courses

Now that we can find our way around, in Chapter 3, Editing Text and Adding Files we'll navigate to a course, edit some text, and upload some resources: the next major new features we'll be investigating in Moodle 2.0.
