A new forum type


Moodle 2.0 offers a new way of displaying forum posts, alongside the four we're already familiar with:

Standard forum displayed in a blog-like format

This forum is similar to the default Standard forum for general use in that you can start a new discussion topic, but the display is different and as the title suggests reminiscent of that of a blog. Let's remind ourselves first of the look of the Standard forum type:

Notice that the discussion title is given, on the left, but with no actual content. After the poster's name comes a column giving the number of replies and the time of the last post. This is fine if we just want a quick glance at subject headings but what if we want actually to read the first post so we can decide if it's worth responding to? Here's a forum Andy started asking about Inspiring People. Other than selecting the new forum type from the drop-down menu, he set it up in the regular way, so we don't need to go into the details of it - but see how it looks...
