Summary

In this chapter, we have learned what the building blocks of Moodle look like and where they are located. Furthermore, we have dealt with a number of options for managing files including the basics of some file repositories.

As we found out in the previous chapter, Moodle can be installed on multiple operating systems, supports a wide range of database systems, and can be used with different web servers. Due to the openness of Moodle, it should have come across in this chapter that all its components can be accessed without any restrictions. This allows the management of files via a number of channels that we have covered; such as, Moodle's file management, web host file management, and file management via the File system repository for FTP access.

Now that your system is up and running and you know what its insides look like, it's time to add courses and users.
