Document reports


The most difficult types of reports to port from the Classic client towards the Role Tailored client are document reports. The reason for this is the way in which the reports were developed in the Classic client. If it is your requirement to create an enhanced report with exactly the same appearance, layout, and functionality as available in the Classic client, then you will need to spend some time in applying workarounds in RDLC to overcome some of the limitations of enhanced reports.

What's so special in a document report compared to other reports?

The number of copies option

When running the Sales Invoice report for example, on the request page the user has an Options tab in which they can select the number of copies (No. of copies) required. Depending on the number entered by the user, the report will print x extra copies for every page. This implies that you need to develop the report so that it somehow takes into account the extra copies to be printed for the report....
