Using MDX in aggregate storage applications


In this recipe, we will be adding an aggregate storage application and database using EAS and applying MDX logic for the purpose of forecast. We will begin by replacing the outline file with a completed outline and populate the database with a load rule. In addition, we will discuss the use of substitution variables in MDX as well as the additional syntax used in this recipe.

Getting ready

To get started, click on the Start menu and navigate to Programs | Oracle EPM System | Essbase | Essbase Administration Services | Start Administration Services Console. In the Log in menu, enter your Administration Server, Username, Password, and click on the Log in button.

  1. In EAS, drill down on the Essbase Servers node, drill down on your Essbase Server, right-click on the Applications, select Create application, click on Using Aggregate storage, enter ASOsamp in the Application Name textbox, and click on the OK button.
