Exporting data using column format

In this recipe, we will use a column format export to extract all the data from Sample.Basic at the lowest level. We will also create a separate database for the purpose of loading this columnar export via a load rule. The column format is the least flexible method of exporting data from a database as data is exported in the format of the Essbase outline. Moreover, we cannot specify a slice of the database for export with column format export. On the other, it is one of the fastest ways of extracting all data from an Essbase database.

Getting ready

To get started, click on the Start menu and navigate to Programs | Oracle EPM System | Essbase | Essbase Administration Services | Start Administration Services Console. In the Log in menu, enter your Administration Server, Username, Password, and click on the Log in button.
