Sorting records in a list


When working with a list of mixed records displayed in a dashboard list component, you may need to sort that data to make it more manageable. You can sort in ascending and descending order. You can also sort by multiple column headings.

Getting ready

Start by going to the Dashboards section in the Dynamics CRM 2011 Workplace area.

How to do it...

Carry out the following steps in order to complete this recipe:

  1. Select the Dashboards link from the Workplace area.

  2. Select the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Overview dashboard. There should be a list located near the bottom right of this dashboard with the title My Activities. By default, this list is sorted by the Due Date column, as indicated by an arrow located in the column heading, as shown in the following screenshot:

  3. The arrowhead pointing up indicates that this column is being sorted in ascending order (lowest to highest). Click on the Due Date column heading again to change the column sorting to descending order (highest to...
