Creating messages

When we want to send a notification we must first define a message that the notification will be based upon. We are going to create a number of messages. There will be a message to the manager of the employee to confirm the absence details. This will require a response from the manager to accept or reject the absence that was received in the XML. There will be a message to the system administrator to inform them of an error in validating the XML. Finally there will be a message to the employee to inform them that the manager has rejected the absence details. We are going to create the following three messages:

  • Absence Approval

  • Absence Rejection

  • Invalid XML

To create messages, we will perform the following tasks:

  • Creating an absence approval message

  • Adding attributes to our approval message

  • Creating a rejection message

  • Adding attributes to our rejection message

  • Creating an invalid XML message

  • Adding invalid XML message attributes
