Preface

Installation of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010


With all the servers ready and in place, we're now in a position to install Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 on our new Windows servers.

For the installation at Lisa Jane Designs, due to the small IT domain and single domain we're able to use the Administrator account, which is a member of the pre-requisite groups, including Enterprise Admins, Domain Admins, and Schema Admins.

Before we proceed with the installation of Exchange Server itself though, we've got a little bit of server configuration and pre-requisite installation to perform.

Basic server configuration

Overall, the basic configuration of the server is like any other Windows 2008 R2 server. We need to configure the Exchange Servers to use internal network addresses as listed earlier, along with appropriate DNS server settings against Active Directory domain controllers to ensure name resolution works as expected. Then, we join the servers into the lisajanedesigns.co.uk domain.
