Sometimes, programming in Scratch can seem like the easy part of creating a project, especially when we have to simultaneously create the storyline and coordinate all the elements to make the story unfold. Fortunately for us, everything gets easier with practice.

We started our work at the beginning of the chapter with the idea to create a book of jokes—and I'll forgive you if you think my jokes are bad—and by the time we finished our exercises, we had a project that could seamlessly navigate through the stories based on the users' selected path. In the process of telling a story via our Scratch book, we got our first good look at using coordinates to precisely locate sprites, explored sound, and coordinated action based on a background.

In the next chapter, we're going to continue our work with backgrounds by creating a slideshow from some of our personal images. We'll explore some of the advanced features of some of the concepts we introduced in this chapter, including hiding the...
