Introduction

Microsoft Dynamics AX is delivered with integration to many of the Office applications, including Word, which allows users to create their own reports in an application that they are familiar with and have probably used for years. From an IT point of view, this is a great way to allow the users to create their own reports because the data is secure and ties back to the user's profile and security rights. From the user's point of view, this is great because they can format their reports themselves without having to be technically oriented.

As an added benefit, these Word templates can be saved to a template library in SharePoint that Dynamics AX will be able to access, which will link to the Attachments functionality, allowing the users to create filtered Word documents on the fly.
