Summary

In this chapter, we reviewed team web access levels and their various features based on need and walked through a very light feature called work item charting. Also, we discussed inbuilt standard reports.

At the end of this chapter, we saw different types of TFS reports and their features; however, TFS also has its own TFS API in order to create more customized reports. For example, you can create a TFS work item with about three lines of C# code. You can also use the TFS API to create reports in a supported way. There is also the REST API released for TFS to allow clients to be created for tablets, on Microsoft Windows operating systems, and smartphones insofar as they support HTTP requests.

However, at present, this API is only available for Visual Studio Online; it is expected to be available for on-premise deployments in a later version of TFS.
