While working on the code, one of the most important aspects is version control. A Version Control System (VCS) (also known as a Revision Control System) is a repository of source code files with monitored access. Every change made to the source is tracked, along with who made the change, why they made it, and comments about problems fixed or enhancements introduced by the change. It doesn't matter if you work alone or in a team, having the tool to efficiently work with different versions of the code is crucial. Software development is usually carried out by teams, either distributed or colocated. The version control system lets developers work on a copy of the source code and then release their changes back to the common codebase when ready. Other developers work on their own copies of the same code at the same time, unaffected by each other's changes until they choose to merge or commit their changes back to the project.
