Extending to the Internet of Things

The possibility to integrate apps running on mobile devices with the world of Internet of Things gadgets and wearables opens new and exciting possibilities for mobile developers. In this chapter, we are going to see how easy it is to use Delphi to integrate with the IoT using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication. We are going to use specialized ThingConnect components available with the GetIt Package Manager for working with devices such as heart rate monitors. The special type of BLE devices are beacons that you can use to add precise indoor and outdoor location awareness to your mobile app. At the end of this chapter, we are going to learn how to use the BeaconFence framework for building complete mobile microlocation solutions.
