Summary


In this chapter, we discussed transaction and why it is important. We also discussed transaction management and its life cycle. We discussed transaction attributes such as readonly, isolation level, propagation behavior, and timeout. We saw declarative and programmatic as two ways to handle transaction, where one helps the other get rid of the plumbing code, and the other gives fine control of the operations. For better understanding, we also discussed both these techniques with the help of an application. Up until now, we discussed how to handle the data that was imaginary. We will need a means to get this for the actual users.

In the next chapter, we will explore how to develop the web layer of an application that facilitates user interaction.
