Implementing Microsoft Dynamics NAV in the real world often requires you to integrate the ERP with external applications or solve complex architectural tasks in order to have a final successful project. This book will show you how to extend a Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation to the enterprise world in a practical way. The book starts with an introduction to Microsoft Dynamics NAV architecture and then moves on to advanced topics related to implementing real-world solutions based on NAV and external applications. You will learn how an enterprise distributed architecture with NAV at the core can be implemented. Through a series of real-world cases on every topic and every industry (sales, retail, manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, and so on), you’ll see step by step how to efficiently solve a technical problem. Azure Analysis Services

Azure Analysis Services provides the analytical engine of the Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition to the cloud. This is an interesting new Azure service for performing data modeling and analysis on the cloud by using the same tools you use for the on-premises version of SQL Server. If your NAV architecture includes On-premises data (from different sources) and Cloud data, with Azure Analysis Services you can combine data from both sources in order to provide a hybrid BI solution for your customer:

Let's take a look at the following two simple steps to create an Azure Analysis Services server from the Azure Portal:

  1. An Azure Analysis Services server can be created from the Azure Portal by navigating to New | Intelligence + analytics | Analysis Services (preview):

  2. When the Azure Analysis Services server is created, you can deploy a data model to the cloud. If your data model involves on-premises data sources, you need to install an On-premises data gateway locally...
