In this chapter, we covered the essentials of data as it relates to IIoT. We described why data management is at the center of any IIoT solution and is critical in order for these solutions to be successfully deployed and to show ROI in an enterprise environment. The details of a properly scalable data architecture and the corresponding stack were covered, as well as the associated best practices and standards. Finally, we included the source code that pertains to connecting with some of the different data stores for the reader.
In the next chapter, we look at how to use this data to perform analytics and also build a sample end-to-end application.
