This recipe will focus on building a classic Windows application to use the .NET Standard 2.0 library that we created in the previous recipe.
Make sure you have completed the previous recipe where we built a .NET Standard 2.0 library. It used the System.IO
namespace to encrypt and decrypt a file. Open that solution and do a quick Ctrl + Shift + B to check that everything is fine.
- Open Visual Studio 2017.
- Now open the solution we built from the previous recipe.
- The
Solution Explorer
should look like this:
- Now, let's select the solution name and right-click.
- From the menu, select
Add
|New Project
. - In the
New Project
dialog box, expand theVisual C#
node and selectWindows Classic Desktop
in the left-hand pane.
- In the right-hand pane, select
Windows Forms App (.NET Framework)

- Now, in the
Name:
textbox, typeChapter3.SecureFile.SecureWinApp
, leave theLocation:
textbox as it is, and clickOK
