Understanding built-in theme components


The design of any WordPress frontend screen consists of many components on top of the template files. These components act as the location placeholders for the site data. By understanding these components, you can let administrators change the content and locations dynamically based on various needs.

Let's take a look at these components and their roles within the theme:

  • Menu: This is a collection of links consisting of posts, pages, custom post types, and custom links. The navigation menu is a must-use feature in any site to traverse through the available pages without losing the path. In the old days, we only had one menu placed in the header section of the site.
