Introduction


Containers in Sencha Touch are components which can contain other components. They handle the basic behavior of containing items, namely adding and removing items. In the previous chapter, we talked about the form and the different form fields. A form is a container. Other containers are Panel , TabPanel , Sheet , NestedList , Carousel , FieldSet , Toolbar , and so on. All the container classes extend the Ext.Container class.

The following diagram depicts the various container classes and their relationship with each other:

Ext.Container is the base class, which provides the basic common functionalities related to a container and it is extended further by the different classes which implement certain specific behaviors. For example, Toolbar takes care of showing various buttons in the form of a toolbar whereas Media takes care of playing the audio/video.
