The Sencha touch cookbook has a comprehensive selection of recipes covering everything from installation right through to HTML5 geo location. The Sencha Touch Cookbook really is your one stop resource for cross platform HTML5 application development. It covers the basics such as setting up an iOS and Android development environment right through to much more complex development issues such as touch gestures, animation, rich media and geo location. Highlighting a pie

One fascinating feature the pie chart supports is highlighting a pie and when it is selected. It actually stands out distinctly from other pies. In this recipe, we will see how to make use of this feature.

Getting ready

Make sure that you have set up your development environment by following the recipes outlined in Chapter 1.

  1. Edit the ch07_09.js file.

  2. Add the following interaction item to it:

    interactions: [{
      type: 'itemhighlight'
    }]
  3. Save the changes.

  4. Deploy and access the application from the browser. You may also run it using the emulator.

  5. Tap a particular pie. This will show the pie highlighted and stand out from the rest of the chart, as shown in the following screenshot:

How it works...

This is taken care of by the default itemhighlight interaction on the pie series of the Sencha Touch Chart framework.
