Creating an Ajax form

We have seen how to create forms and validate them using Lift, and that is really neat. However, your application still has to reload the entire page to submit the forms and get a response from the server.

Things don't have to be this way! Lift is very flexible and provides a mechanism to add Ajax support into forms. In other words, we can build Ajax forms easily and thus not have to reload the whole page just to submit a form. In this recipe, we will learn how to create a form and submit it using Ajax.

Getting ready

We are going to change the form we built in the Creating forms recipe from a regular form to an Ajax form.

How to do it...

You can create an Ajax form by performing the following steps:

  1. Remove the div tag that invokes the SinglePageForm snippet:

    <div class="lift:SinglePageForm"></div>
  2. And add the following code in its place:

        <form class="lift:form.ajax">
            <div class="lift:AjaxForm.form">
                <div>
                   ...
