Summary


In this chapter, we explored some of the ways in which SQL Server Reporting Services can be integrated with Dynamics GP 2010. Although experienced developers and consultants have been using SSRS to develop reports for Dynamics GP for quite some time, it is only through recent versions of GP that Microsoft has begun providing pre-defined SSRS reports and metrics that can be deployed to a report server. By first installing SQL Server Reporting Services and then deploying these pre-defined reports and metrics, even developers and consultants who do not have a tremendous amount of experience with SSRS can begin taking advantage of its versatile and useful functionality. We demonstrated how this is possible by discussing how to modify one of the existing SSRS reports. We also demonstrated how users can take advantage of the new SSRS-based metrics created for GP 2010 and SQL Server 2008 by creating our own metrics.
