In this chapter, we discussed the various options for enabling data integration, whether it be flat files, changed data capture, adapters, and so on. We took a closer look at the architecture, components of key Oracle technologies such as Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Data Integrator, and Oracle Database Gateways that provide unique capabilities to support most data integration needs. Oracle GoldenGate is well suited for transaction replication to achieve high availability, load balancing between databases, maintenance of reporting databases in near real-time, and so on. Oracle Data Integrator provides powerful transformation capabilities for enterprise data warehousing in a declarative manner. Oracle Database Gateways on the other hand enables data federation in a unique way at the database tier, that is at SQL, and PL/SQL level, isolating developers from the complexities of the SQL Semantics, configuration, and so on in a heterogeneous environment.
Finally, the snapshot case study is...
