The foundation of the golden age centralized workload automation is a well-designed and properly configured batch software infrastructure. Although the technical aspect of installing commercial batch software such as Control-M is fairly straightforward, implementing a complete batch environment is not only about finding a server and installing the software. Building a batch environment without proper planning can turn out to be costly for the organization over the long run (for example, the penalty of constantly missing SLA due to an unstable batch environment, cost of modifying the infrastructure, and cost of additional licensing due to poor planning). It is also very challenging to make major structural modifications to the production batch environment without interrupting the business once everything has gone live and while working closely with each other.
