Project management


Project management is the process of delivering well-described solutions managed using activities such as planning, budgeting, prioritizing, communicating and influencing stakeholders, and assembling and managing the project team. The solution that needs to be delivered by the project isn't necessarily a piece of software, but can also be the creation of a new department for example. Demand management initializes projects.

Projects are bounded in scope and time as opposed to continuous processes and activities such as human resource management and customer relationship management within organizations.

Project managers are responsible for delivering the specified solution within certain constraints such as budget, and are allocated resources to achieve this goal. Projects can be managed from the demand side (for example, customer) as well as the supply side. The overall project responsibility and acceptance of the realized solutions are demand-side activities.
