Adding actions to your page


The JSF framework offers an event based programming model that you may see in traditional thick client desktop applications built using Java Swing or similar technology. JSF allows you to execute business logic in response to user actions on the UI component at runtime. These events are broadly termed as application events. They are classified further into two categories: action events and value change events. The action events are triggered by actionable components, such as command button, and value change events are triggered by editable components, such as input field. As ADF Faces is built on top of the JSF framework, ADF Faces inherits the same event model.

You will use ADF Faces command components such as af:commandButton, af:commandLink, and af:commandImageLink to invoke any business service methods or to perform page navigation.
