Adding a menu item to a form


Our next step is to add a menu item. This can be used to call new forms or to trigger other business processes. We looked at adding menus in the previous chapter when we built our custom form. We will now add a menu item to a standard form using personalization. We will do the following tasks:

  • Adding a menu item

  • Testing the menu item that has been added

There are, by default, user named triggers called SPECIAL triggers in the standard forms, which range from SPECIAL1 to 45. We can use these triggers to add functionality to the menu bar. Oracle may occasionally use the SPECIAL triggers in a form, so we always start with the highest SPECIAL trigger available. In this next recipe we are going to enable the SPECIAL45 trigger and rename the label.
