After configuring the base settings for Exchange, we should now have an Exchange organization with client access, mail connectivity, and high availability. We should now be ready to perform a few basic tests, and then connect our first iPhone to the new Exchange Server infrastructure.
Before we can test anything, we need to create a test Mailbox. By default, the Administrator account on our domain has been enabled as a Mailbox. As a Domain Admin we won't be able to pair an ActiveSync device with the Administrator account due to default security settings; this is a sensible best practice so we won't change this.
To create our first test Mailbox, we navigate in the Exchange Management Console to Recipient Configuration | Mailbox and right-click and choose New Mailbox.
Follow the wizard through, choosing appropriate options such as the following:
A mailbox type of User Mailbox
Creating a new Active Directory user or enable an existing test user...
