Time for action – signing an App with our Developer ID


Now, we can look at the steps needed to sign our App using our Developer ID:

  1. If you have not joined the Mac App developer program, do so now.

  2. Launch Xcode and create a new project using the Mac OS X Cocoa Application template.

  3. Name the new App DeveloperIDTest.

  4. From the Product menu, select Build For, and then select Archiving.

  5. From the Product menu, select Archive.

  6. In the Organizer – Archives window, click on the Distribute…button as shown in the following screenshot:

  7. For the Method of Distribution, select Export Developer ID-signed Application and click on the Next button as shown in the following screenshot:

  8. Select the Developer ID with which you wish to sign in the App and click on the Next button.

  9. When prompted to enter your keychain password for codesign, enter your Password and click on the OK button as shown in the following screenshot:

  10. Optionally, rename your App and click on the Save button.
