Summary


How great is Scratch! Not only does it give us an engaging programming environment, it also gives us a whole suite of tools to personalize our projects. In this chapter, the slideshow we created used our personal images. With the click of a button, we brought the images to life with our own recorded voices and with sounds from Scratch's included sound library. And with a little creative programming using the broadcast block, we were able to synchronize the backdrops with a specific sound. We ended the chapter with the slightly more advanced concept of using the x and y coordinate system to locate the mouse and used this as a way to show or hide navigation controls.

Our project used personal photos. However, what we really created was a project that can be remixed into a presentation on any topic: science, favorite Scratch authors, birds found in the backyard, and the list goes on.
