Viewing your map in QGIS and a browser


A published map can be viewed in QGIS and a browser. Depending on your needs, it is better to use one or the other. A web-based viewer is a good choice if all you need is viewing and some basic GIS functionality, such as map navigation, feature identification, and printing. Also, a web-based viewer is a great way to share your map with others.

Working with a map from a browser

QGIS Cloud provides two web viewers: one for mobile devices (smartphones or tablets), and another for desktop. Both viewers provide the same basic functionality such as map navigation and changing layer visibility. Let's take a closer look at them.

The standard desktop viewer is based on QGIS Web Client and it looks like a simple GIS application that runs in the browser, as seen in the following screenshot:
