In this chapter, we've covered how to build a web server that bridges the gap between our database backend and our mobile application. We've provided an overview of RESTful-like APIs, and we've also quickly shown how to implement such a web API using Node.js. We've also covered authentication and session handling using Passport.

In the next chapter, we'll start working on our PhoneGap app, primarily by verifying that it can properly communicate with our new web API. It won't be pretty yet, that's for a later chapter, but it will be able to authenticate and list tasks.
